2007-2008 Principals' Fellows

Alenor Abdal-Khallaq Williams is the principal of the Mather Elementary School. She has been an educator for 16 years. She received her Doctorate in Administrative Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University.

Sherry Brooks-Roberts is the co-administrator of the Lyndon School. She is also in the Massachusetts Elementary School Principals Association (MESPA) and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).

Catherine Constant is the principal of the Holmes Elementary School. She has been an educator in the Boston Public Schools for 25 years. She obtained National Board Teaching Certification as an Elementary Generalist. She is presently a doctoral student at Nova Southeastern University.

Marice Diakite is the principal for the P.J. Kennedy School. She began teaching in 1994 at the Trotter School. She received her Master’s of Education at Cambridge College and her C.A.G.S. at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Suzanne Federspiel is the principal of Kenny Elementary School. She received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Connecticut, Storrs and her Master of Business Administration at Boston University.

Valerie Gumes is the principal of the Haynes Early Education Center. She has taught in the Boston Public Schools for over 20 years. She has served on the Mayor’s School Readiness Planning Team, the Member Community Partnership Council and the Chair of Quality Committee.

Vera Johnson is the principal of the Mendel Elementary School. She has been an educator in the Boston Public Schools for 15 years. She is currently pursuing a Ph. D. at Boston College.

Ben Russell is the principal of the East Zone Early Learning Center in Dorchester. He also serves on the Board of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and care. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Science in Leadership, Policy and Administration at Wheelock College.

Nora Toney is the principal of the Dr. Catherine Ellison-Rosa Parks Early Education School and the president of the Black Educators’ Alliance of Massachusetts. She has recently participated in Cultural Responsive Professional Development.
